Creating and publishing skill bundles
Writing skills yourself versus importing from GitHub, SKILL.md rules and limits, and how sharing your own skill differs from introducing someone else's.

You can create and publish a skill bundle from Create a skill on skills.parallax.kr. You need to be signed in, and you start by choosing how to create it.
- Write it yourself: write one or more skills and publish them as a bundle.
- Import from GitHub: read every SKILL.md in a public repository and turn them into a bundle.
What do I fill in when writing it myself?
You fill in the bundle details and the list of skills.
Bundle details
- Name (up to 60 characters), tagline (up to 120 characters), category
- Up to 10 tags
- Description (Markdown supported, up to 5,000 characters)
- How to use (optional, up to 3 steps)
- Up to 4 starter prompts
- Icon and preview images (PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 5 MB each, up to 6 previews)
- Visibility (Public or Private)
Skills (at least 1 and up to 50 per bundle)
- Name: lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only, up to 64 characters. Hyphens cannot repeat or appear at the start or end, and names must be unique within the bundle. Example:
market-research-brief - When to use: up to 1,024 characters. The chat model reads this to decide whether to load the skill, so describe clearly which requests it is for.
- Instructions (SKILL.md body): up to 20,000 characters, Markdown supported.
Who can see my instructions?
The description and the full instructions of every skill in a public bundle are visible to anyone on the bundle page, and can be copied. Do not put passwords, API keys, personal information or anything else that must stay private in your instructions.
How do I import from GitHub?
- Choose Import from GitHub.
- Enter the repository address. You can use
owner/repo, a repository URL, or a folder URL such ashttps://github.com/owner/repo/tree/main/skills. Only public repositories can be imported. - Choose why you are adding it (My own skill or Introduce someone else's skill) and click Preview.
- Check which skills will be imported, which were excluded and why, and the license.
- Fill in the rest of the bundle details and publish.
An imported bundle keeps a link to the source repository and the commit it was imported from, and both are shown on the bundle page.
What SKILL.md format can be imported?
Every SKILL.md file under the path you entered is read as a skill. The frontmatter at the top of the file needs these values:
name: follows the same naming rule as writing it yourself (lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens, up to 64 characters)description: when to use the skill (up to 1,024 characters)
These skills are excluded in the preview, with the reason shown:
- Skills whose name breaks the rule or repeats another name in the bundle
- Skills with no description, or whose frontmatter cannot be read
- Skills marked
internal: trueundermetadata - Skills whose body is longer than 20,000 characters
- Skills beyond the limit of 50 per bundle
- (Introductions only) Skills whose license is not allowed or cannot be determined
Text files inside a skill folder (.md, .txt, .json, .yaml, .yml, .csv) are imported as reference files. The limit is 100 KB per file and 2 MB per bundle, and files over the limit are not imported.
If a skill folder contains scripts/, the skill's text is imported but the scripts are not run on Parallax. The bundle page notes this as well.
Are changes to the source repository picked up automatically?
No. The bundle stays at the commit it was imported from, and it is updated to the latest commit only when the person who published it clicks Re-import on the bundle's edit page.
- Bundles imported as My own skill: the skills are replaced with the latest content of the repository. Any edits you made to the skills on Parallax are overwritten, so you are warned first.
- Bundles imported as Introduce someone else's skill: the skills are updated to the latest commit of the original repository. Skills whose license changed to one that is not allowed are dropped, and if no skills would remain, the re-import is refused and the existing content is kept.
Skills that no longer exist in the repository are removed from the bundle when you re-import.
How is sharing my own skill different from introducing someone else's?
| My own skill | Introduce someone else's skill | |
|---|---|---|
| For | Skills you made or contributed to | Popular skills someone else has published |
| How to create | Write it yourself or import from GitHub | Import from GitHub only |
| Shown on public pages | Your name as the author | The original source (GitHub owner and repository) instead of your name |
| License | Not checked (your own declaration) | Only skills with a permissive license are imported |
| Editing skill content | Everything can be edited | Locked to the source, cannot be edited |
| Same source listed twice | Not blocked | A source that is already public cannot be introduced again |
A bundle you write yourself is always your own skill. You cannot change the purpose after publishing.
What are the rules for introducing someone else's skill?
Allowed licenses: MIT, Apache-2.0, BSD-2-Clause, BSD-3-Clause, ISC, 0BSD, Unlicense, CC0-1.0 and CC-BY-4.0. For each skill we check the license value in its SKILL.md, then the LICENSE file in the skill folder, then the repository's license. Skills with a proprietary license, or whose license cannot be determined, are excluded, and if no skill can be imported the import is refused.
One introduction per source: if the same source is already public in the gallery, it cannot be introduced again, and the preview links to the existing bundle. The same check runs when you switch a private introduction to public. Importing it as your own skill is not blocked.
The person who added it is not shown: cards, bundle pages and creator pages show the original source, and your name appears only on your own My skills page. Introductions are also left out of creator pages and the featured creators ranking.
What you can and cannot edit: the bundle name and description, and each skill's name, description, instructions and reference files, are locked to the source. The bundle name and description are set automatically from the imported content. You can edit the tagline, category, tags, how to use, starter prompts, images and visibility.
What is the difference between Public and Private?
- Public: anyone can find it in the gallery and add it.
- Private: only you can see and use it. If you add it and turn it on, it is used in your own chats. You can make it public at any time from the edit page.
How many bundles can I create per day?
You can create up to 20 in any 24 hours. This includes bundles you write yourself, GitHub imports and remixes, and bundles you created and then deleted still count.
I want to adapt someone else's skill
Click Remix on the bundle page to create a private copy under your skills that you can edit. The copy credits the original. After editing it, you can keep it private or publish it.
How do I edit or delete a bundle I published?
Go to My skills > Published and click Edit or Delete. You can also delete it from the edit page.
A deleted bundle disappears from the gallery and is no longer used in the chats of people who added it. Deleting cannot be undone.
If you need help
Open a support request and choose Skills as the service. Include the bundle page address (skills.parallax.kr/s/...), and for a GitHub import, the repository address you entered and the purpose you chose, along with any error message or exclusion reason shown on screen.
