Parallax Docs is a document service where you write in the browser, edit together with others in real time, share, and publish to the web. You can use it at docs.parallax.kr with nothing to install.
How do I get started?
Sign in with your Parallax account. Email and password, Google, and Apple sign in are supported. Docs uses the same account as parallax.kr and the other Parallax services, so if you already have one you don't need to sign up again. If you are already signed in to another Parallax service in the same browser, you stay signed in on Docs too.
If you don't have an account yet, create one from Get started free on the home page or Sign up on the sign in screen.
Does it cost anything?
Creating and editing documents in Docs currently does not use any credits, and the number of documents you can create does not depend on your plan.
How do I create a new document?
From Start a new document on the Docs home, choose Blank document or start from a template. There are four templates: Meeting notes, Project proposal, Weekly report and Reading notes, and their content is filled in using the language you selected for the interface. While editing, you can also use File > New document.
There's no save button
You don't need one. Everything is saved automatically as you type, and the top of the screen shows the status, such as Saving… and Saved. Pressing Ctrl+S sends your latest changes right away and shows a note that changes are saved automatically.
How is the document list organized?
The Docs home groups documents into these views:
- Recent: documents you created or that were shared with you, most recently opened first
- Owned by me: documents you own
- Shared with me: documents someone invited you to, or that you opened through a link
- Starred: documents you starred
- Trash: documents you moved to the trash
The search box at the top finds documents by title and body text, and you can switch between grid view and list view.
What formatting can I use?
Heading levels, bold, italic, underline and strikethrough, text and highlight color, alignment, bulleted and numbered lists, checklists, quotes, code blocks, tables, images, links, horizontal lines, and superscript and subscript. Pick them from the toolbar at the top or from the Insert and Format menus.
Press / on an empty line to open the block insert menu and add headings, lists, tables, images and more from the keyboard. Markdown style input also works at the start of a line: # (heading), - (list), 1. (numbered list), [ ] (checklist), > (quote) and three backticks (code).
How do I add images?
Images are added by the address (starting with http or https) of an image that is already online. Choose Insert > Image (by URL) or the image button on the toolbar and enter the address. Uploading an image file directly from your computer is not available yet.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Bold / Italic / Underline | Ctrl+B / Ctrl+I / Ctrl+U |
| Strikethrough | Ctrl+Shift+S |
| Headings 1 to 4 / Normal text | Ctrl+Alt+1 to 4 / Ctrl+Alt+0 |
| Numbered / Bulleted / Checklist | Ctrl+Shift+7 / 8 / 9 |
| Insert link | Ctrl+K |
| Add comment | Ctrl+Alt+M |
| Find / Find and replace | Ctrl+F / Ctrl+H |
| Undo / Redo | Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y |
| Focus mode | Ctrl+. |
| Print · PDF | Ctrl+P |
| Show shortcuts | Ctrl+/ |
On macOS, use ⌘ instead of Ctrl. The full list is under Tools > Keyboard shortcuts.
I want to focus on writing
Turn on Focus mode (Ctrl+.) to hide the toolbar and panels and keep only the paragraph you are writing in sharp view. Press Ctrl+. again or Esc to leave it. The View menu lets you show or hide the document outline (a list of headings) and the print layout, and Tools > Word count shows word and character counts.
Can I download or print a document?
Under File > Download you can save it as a web page (.html), Markdown (.md) or plain text (.txt). For a PDF, choose File > Print · Save as PDF (Ctrl+P) and pick "Save as PDF" in your browser's print window. Printing always uses a white background, even in dark mode.
Importing or exporting Word (.docx) files is not supported yet.
Can I duplicate a document?
File > Make a copy creates a new document that you own and opens it in a new tab. You can copy any document you can view, including ones shared with you. Only the content is copied. The original's sharing settings, comments and version history are not.
How do I change the language or use dark mode?
When signed in, open Theme & language from the account menu at the top right. Before signing in, use the globe button on the screen. Themes are System, Light and Dark, and there are 13 interface languages, including English and Korean. The language is not part of the document address, so everyone who opens the same link sees the interface in the language they chose.
If you need help
Send a support request, choose Docs as the service, and include the email of the account you signed in with, the address of the document (in the form docs.parallax.kr/d/...), the browser you used, and any message shown on screen.
