The Iris desktop app

The Iris desktop app handles heavy work on your own computer. Builds are available for Windows, macOS and Linux.

How it differs from the web

• Video editor: timeline editing, cutting, keyframes, transitions and export all happen inside the app.
• Local processing: files are handled on your machine rather than uploaded to a server, which helps with large source material.
• Usable without signing in: local features work signed out. Sign in when you need cloud generation or library sync.

Installing

Download the installer for your operating system from the desktop page on Iris web. The first launch may raise a security warning from your operating system. For a signed official build it is fine to continue.

Running on your own API keys

In the app you can enter API keys you obtained yourself from outside model providers. Generation is then billed directly by that provider and no Parallax credits are used. Keys are stored only in the app settings folder on your computer and are never sent to our servers.

Common problems

Export fails Check that you have write permission for the destination folder and enough free disk space. Longer videos need more temporary space.

Preview stutters Playback gets heavy when several high resolution sources are loaded. Edit at a lower preview quality and export at full quality.

I cannot sign in If a browser window opens but never returns to the app, quit the app completely, start it again and sign in. If it keeps happening, tell us your operating system and app version in a support request.
